In connection with the day of remembrance of January 20 martyrs, Heydar Aliyev Center hosted an event titled "January 20th - the day of national pride and honor". Initially, the event participants familiarized with the exhibition devoted to the events of January 20, organized in the foyer of the center. Then, at the event, continued in a conference room, with a minute of silence the tribute was paid to the martyrs. Speaking, the employee of the center Kamala Gasimova gave details of violence committed by the Russian army against our peaceful people during the events of January 20, he stressed that the monstrous act of terrorism committed in that day by military machine of the former Soviet state, has entered into our history as one of the most serious crimes against humanity. Noting that first voicing his protest against the massacre, the national leader Heydar Aliyev spoke at the meeting of the Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan in Moscow in connection with the tragedy on January 21, 1990, and sharply criticized the perpetrators of such an act, she said that the incident was contrary to the principles of law, democracy and humanism. The speaker said that today with great respect and veneration we should pay homage to the heroic struggle of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the Azerbaijani people, appreciate their courage, as the apple of the eye protect the independence, achieved at the cost of the blood of martyrs, in the words of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, we must make it permanent, eternal and irreversible. In conclusion, the participants of the event were shown literary and art composition by students, dedicated to the events of January 20.
