On March 31 at Gabala Culture Center a large-scale event was held in connection with the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis. For the event the head and officials of the companies and institutions, public organizations of Gabala region, as well as students were invited. During the event, opened by the introductory speech of the head of the district department of culture and tourism Nargila Gafarova, the victims of the genocide were commemorated with a minute of silence. Speaking at the event, the deputy Head of the District Executive Power - Head of the Department for Public-Political and Humanitarian Affairs Ataya Osmanova noted that the Azerbaijani people in the different periods of history suffered genocide by the Armenians. Historical evidence suggests that implementing hypocritical policy Armenians have always resorted to the most severe methods, not befitting humanity, for the creation of the "Great Armenia" state in the territories belonging to Azerbaijan. In March-April 1918 in Baku, Shamakhi, Guba, Mugan and Lankaran Armenian-Bolshevik formations murdered over 50 thousand Azerbaijanis, 10 thousand people were driven from their lands. The worst atrocities were carried out on March 31, 1918. On the same day thousands of innocent Azerbaijanis were slaughtered in Baku, Shamakhi, Guba, Ganja and other settlements of Azerbaijan by the Bolshevik-Dashnak forces. Only in Baku, labeling more than 12 thousand Azerbaijanis as "counter-revolutionaries", they destroyed people with inhuman barbaric methods. Director of the District Local History Museum Khalis Mammadov spoke about the ethnic cleansing policy carried out from time to time by Armenians against Azerbaijanis, the massacre perpetrated in connection with the occupation of lands originally Azerbaijani since XVIII-XIX over the course of history, in detail informed of the essential facts. In conclusion, in the lobby of the Culture Center event participants examined the exhibition organized in connection with the genocide of March 31, consisting of the art works of the district state art studio's members.
