"Say no to drug abuse"

As part of measures to combat the spread of drugs in the auditorium of the Gabala Region Executive Power an event was held titled "Say no to drug addiction". The event was mainly attended by young teachers, students of district vocational schools, students of senior classes of secondary schools, representatives of relevant government agencies, non-governmental organizations, health care organizations and the public. The event was opened by the first deputy head of the Regional Executive Power, chairperson of the Commission on Combating Drug Abuse at Gabala Region Executive Power Abil Aghasafov. At first, the memory of our martyrs, who were killed in the frontline region in recent days in connection with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, was honored with a minute of silence. To read the report on the topic, the floor was given to the Deputy Chief of Gabala District Police Department police Lieutenant-Colonel Etibar Babayev. Etibar Babayev emphasized that drug addiction is a terrible misfortune, inflicting the most serious harm to human society. Despite the serious fight against this evil in the world, at the moment, unfortunately, it was not possible to avoid this trouble. The speaker noted that Azerbaijan Republic has acceded to all international conventions in the field of combating drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking. Work in this area is strengthened and improved every year. Progress has been made in the field of anti-drug propaganda and efficiency of penalties. Then deputy chief on the example of facts told the participants of the meeting about the measures of regional scale, carried out by officers of the District Police in the fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking. Deputy Head of the Regional Department of Education Ikhtiyar Huseynov informed the participants of the educational work in the fight against drug abuse, carried out in the district schools and after-school facilities under the jurisdiction of the Department of Education. Senior consultant of Youth and Sports Department of Gabala region Mubariz Aghayev noted in his speech that the sport in the fight against drugs is the best way to prevent drug abuse. Therefore, we attach great importance to the development of sport among youth and adolescents. Creation of powerful sports infrastructure in our area helped greatly in this matter. Teacher of Gabala Tourism and Hotel Business Training Centre Lala Aghamirzali told about the work done for the promotion of healthy lifestyles in the school. Head of NGO Resource and Training Center in Gabala Galib Nabiyev, speaking on the measures implemented by non-governmental organizations in collaboration with relevant government agencies in the fight against drug addiction, has emphasized the importance of strengthening the struggle joint with society against this terrible disaster. The doctor of the District Central Hospital, Sarkhan Rustamov noted that drug addiction is a serious chronic disease. Knowing that instead of treating the disease more effective is struggling with its causes, we must join forces against this evil. Finally, the documentary was shown, dedicated to the fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
