An event was held on the topic "Status of implementation of the National Programme of Action in the field of improving the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the challenges ahead".
In the Gabala Region Cultural Center an event was held with the participation of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova in connection with the study of the status of performance, promotion and application of the "National Programme of Action in the field of improving the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan" approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 27, 2011, as well as the challenges ahead. The event was attended by the representatives of the region executive power, the territorial executive offices, the judiciary, police, prosecutor's offices, the district election commissions and municipalities, local non-governmental organizations, the media, active youth, elders, intellectuals and public members. Opening the event, the Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev noted that the effective protection of human rights and freedoms is the main focus of government policy. In connection with problems arising from the implementation of the National Programme of Action, state authorities have been implemented successive measures in Gabala region to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens. In order to expand the opportunities of citizens' applications, on the website of the region executive power (qebele-ih.gov.az) a link was created for the electronic application, through e-mail address mail@qebele-ih.gov.az appeals of citizens are received, considered and provided with the answer. The receipts of population in the Gabala region executive power and on the sites are held regularly. To resolve their complaints operational measures are taken. At the event Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Elmira Suleymanova said in her speech that improving the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Azerbaijan Republic is one of the main tasks. For this purpose, the abovementioned state program is successfully implemented. Ombudsman at the same time stressed the importance of further improvement of this work. Speaking during the discussions chief of district police Nadir Mammadov, the district prosecutor Magsad Orujov, the district court judge Feyruz Abbasov, chairman of the Chukhur Gabala City Council Arzu Israfilova and others informed participants of the event about the measures undertaken in the field of protection of human rights, and made their suggestions and opinions to further improve this performance. At the conclusion of the event, Elmira Suleymanova again told the participants about the importance of further consistent implementation of the National Programme of Action on Human Rights, and announced the end of event. Head of the Region Executive Power Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev expressed his gratitude to the Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova for organization of this important event in Gabala region.
