Among the events held on the occasion of the 97 anniversary of the Border Guard of Azerbaijan a special place is taken by numerous meetings, organized together with the inhabitants of the border areas on the theme "People protect the border". At these meetings, the detailed information is provided about the history and development of the Border Guard, discussions are conducted on the role of local people in the protection of the state border, the values of mutual relations between the inhabitants and the border guards. Another event on the theme "People protect the border" was held on August 16th in Gabala. After laying flowers at the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev erected in the city of Gabala, the event participants attended the event at the Cultural Center of Gabala.Speaking at the meeting, the Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev and the head of Shaki Frontier Corps, Lieutenant-Colonel Muzaffar Pirizade talked about the great care provided to the protection of the borders of our country by the worthy successor of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev, dynamic development, proceeding in the State Border Service, and the progress made. At the event, the Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev congratulated border guards on the upcoming professional holiday, brought to the attention that the provision of direct assistance by the local population to the border guards in the State Border Protection plays an important role and is highly appreciated. Next, a group of local residents who actively helped the border guards in the protection of our borders has been awarded valuable gifts and diplomas. At the conclusion of the event a documentary film about the heroes-border guards was watched.
