"Gabala" in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
On August 25 "Gabala" FC played an away match against “Maribor” FC of Slovenia in the playoff round of UEFA Europe League. Dmitri Bezotosni, Vojislav Stankovich, Nika Kvekveskiri, Sergey Zenyov, Vitali Vernidub, Muhammed Mirzabeyov, Filip Ozobich, Rikardinyo, Rafael Santos, Teo Uiks and Bagali Dabo were in the starting lineup of "Gabala" which is the bronze medalist of Azerbaijan Championship. Jasmin Handanovich, Erik Yanza, Marko Shuler, Blaz Vrhovech, Alex Pihler, Markos Tavares, Milivoye Novakovich, Dare Vrishich, Rodrigo Defendi, Damyan Bohar and Denis Sme played in the starting lineup of the Slovenian team. Although home side's attacks were recorded, no goal was scored in the first half of the match refereed by Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai-0:0. The second half of the match began with counter attacks of the teams. In the 65th minute of the match Markos Tavares scored a goal for “Maribor” FC. Right after the goal Bagali Dapo came face to face with the goalkeeper, but failed to score a goal. In the 68th minute of the match our footballer Teo Uiks received the red card and left the game. The score did not change in the remaining minutes of the match, however the home side made many attacks. So, "Gabala" FC qualified for the group stage of the Europe League, being superior as the results of the two matches. Competitors of our team will be announced in the draw ceremony that will be held on August 26.
