Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Carole Crofts visited Gabala for acquaintance. Ambassador Plenipotentiary, received in Gabala by the Head of District Executive Power Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev, was given detailed information about the area's history, economic situation, social and cultural life. It was noted that the historical past of Gabala as rich as its nature is one of the brightest pages in the history of Azerbaijan. It was brought to attention that these qualities, appreciated by the President of State Mr. Ilham Aliyev, opened the way for the creation of a modern tourism infrastructure in Gabala and transformation of the region into international tourism area. It was noted that along with the tourist infrastructure rapidly developing here, the existing industrial enterprises play a crucial role in the increase of the economic development of this picturesque place. It was reported that products manufactured in the region by the modern-type enterprises meeting the latest achievements of scientific and technological progress, are exported to many countries around the world. Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev, who said that the region is rich in magical beauty and hospitality, noted that Gabala is hosting international events. Speaking about the relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain, the head of the DEP stressed the rapid development of relations and broad prospects of bilateral relations between our countries. Ms. Carole Crofts, who expressed feelings of satisfaction from exploring the Gabala region, noted that the region is a magical place. Ambassador brought to attention the existence of political and economic relations as well as relations in the fields of education, science and culture at a high level between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom. It was noted that another important area of bilateral relations between the two countries consists of education, cultural exchange and contacts between people. Every year, hundreds of young Azerbaijanis go to Great Britain to study in British universities. The UK is one of the most preferred countries for education by young Azerbaijanis. It was noted that cultural exchanges between countries and people to people contacts are mutual. During the visit, Ms. Carole Crofts directly acquainted with the historical and cultural facilities of the district, viewed the industrial enterprises and the tourism sector.
