An event on the theme of "Organization of the religious communities' activity in the fight against religious radicalism" was held in Gabala region with the joint organization of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and the Executive Power of Gabala region. The event was attended by the First Deputy Chairperson of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Sayyad Salahli, first deputy head of the Gabala Region Executive Power Abil Aghasafov, deputy head of the Department for socio-political and humanitarian affairs of the administration of the head of the Region Executive Power - the organizer of the work with religious organizations Yashar Nazirov, chairperson of the district religious communities, religious leaders, elders, intellectuals, and youth representatives of the region. Opening the meeting, the first deputy head of the Executive Power of Gabala region Abil Aghasafov provided general information about the religious situation in the region. He brought to the attention of the participants that the Gabala region of Azerbaijan is one of the exemplary regions, where different nationalities, different religious faiths and communities coexist. He brought to the attention of event participants the existence in the region of Albanian churches, mosques, temples, performing other religious rituals, and their joint action. In his speech, the first deputy chairperson of SCWRO Sayyad Salahli spoke of the relationship between state and religion, the work undertaken in the field of preservation and promotion of national and spiritual values and the values of Islam in our country. He noted that Azerbaijan is a tolerant country and representatives of all religions live here freely. Also Sayyad Salahli spoke in detail about the nature of religious radicalism and the ways to fight it, the impact of political processes occurring in the world on religious radicalism. Referring to the work done by the Azerbaijani government in connection with the preservation and development of progressive religious traditions historically existing in our country and passed to us as a legacy of the past, the representative of the Committee at the same time spoke about the importance of the activity of youth, intellectuals and religious leaders in the fight against religious radicalism. Then naib imam of the central "Juma" mosque Saleh Shirinov, chairperson of the Gamarvan religious community Ikram Ziyadov made presentations on the topic. At the conclusion of the event, the questions of interest of the participants were answered.
