A zonal judo championship among teenagers was held.

A zonal judo championship among children and adolescents was held with organizational support of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation. The competitions, which will take place till the end of the year in the regions and in the capital, are aimed at the further popularization of this sport. As part of the work done by the Judo Federation for the development of this sport in the region, the issue with arbitrators was not neglected. In this regard, during the zonal championship along with the judges, who arrived from the capital, the meeting was judged by judges from the regions. The competition was held on October 27-28, 2016 in Gabala Olympic Sports Complex. The championship was attended by about 80 athletes as part of 6 teams from Shamakhi, Gobustan, Agsu, Ismayilli, Gabala, Oghuz regions of the republic. The main objectives of the competition are the promotion and development of judo in the region, improvement of the training process in sports organizations, the development of competitive experience and skill in children and adolescents, and the composition of the region team in judo. At the opening ceremony of the championship the head of the Department of youth and sports Fakhri Soltanov, and representatives of Azerbaijan Judo Federation Tarlan Poladov and Tarlan Hasanov in their speeches informed about the purposes and objectives of the event and wished the athletes success. On the first day of competition after the opening ceremony, boys and girls born in 2003-2004 were fighting. On the second day of competition judoists born in 2000-2002 matched their strength. The competition was conducted in accordance with existing international rules. In the championship according to the team and medal standings Gabala team, showing good results, won the championship. In conclusion of the zonal championship the awards ceremony was held. Tatami masters, distinguishing in competition, were awarded with medals and honorary certificates. Judo players, who took the first three places in the competition, won the ticket to the championship of Azerbaijan.
