The ways to reduce the risks during floods were discussed with members of the local community.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Emergency Situations organized a seminar on the system of forecasting and early warning of floods in "Qafqaz Sport" hotel of Gabala city. At the seminar within the project "Integrating Climate Change Risks into Water and Flood Management by Vulnerable Mountainous Communities in the Greater Caucasus Region" was attended by representatives of the local mountain community, the staff of non-governmental organizations and partner organizations, project beneficiaries, local and international experts, community leaders and the staff of the project. At the seminar UNDP strategic cooperation advisor Mazahir Efendiyev, the first Deputy Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power Abil Aghasafov, Deputy Head of the General Office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the organization of work with regional centers, project management and education Gunduz Hamzayev, international experts Juan Fernandez, David Milton spoke about the importance of using agricultural technology during the drought and water shortage, the work aimed at risk mitigation arising in this area, made speeches on the topics "The development of the early warning system of community, planning of emergency situations in communities in connection with floods" and "Water problems and mechanisms to deal with them". During the seminar members of the community were provided with new early warning facilities received within the project. In conclusion, the participants of the event and members of local communities actively involved in the project were awarded certificates.
