The sports' mass nature is in the spotlight in the region.
Sport is a very important area for the development of each country and state. The good news is that sport in Azerbaijan is developing successfully, our athletes are known globally, because the government cares about the sport in the country. As a result of the state policy implemented in the area of sports, the improvement of the material and technical base of sport, modern sports facilities and Olympic complexes built here and other measures, our country, as a venue for prestigious international sporting events, has become known in the world as a sporting one. As in all regions of Azerbaijan, the development of sports' mass nature in Gabala is always in the spotlight. Gabala Region Department of Youth and Sports has also prepared an appropriate plan of action, and has been regularly carrying out measures in conjunction with the Region Executive Power for the works in this area to be held at a high quality level. The number of clubs specializing in boxing, judo, taekwondo increased, the new clubs specializing in karate and martial arts started operations in the region for the development of physical culture and sports of various kinds. Also, the new stadiums were built and put into operation on the basis of "Gabala" Sports Club, in the shooting complex, which was equipped with modern equipment, all the conditions were created for all types of shooting. During 2016 the Region Department of Youth and Sports held 30 events in various sports. Among them are the regional tournaments and championships among teenagers and youth in chess, ping pong, judo, wrestling, taekwondo, athletics, volleyball, football, arm wrestling, boxing; 2778 teenagers and young people took part in them. Teams and athletes, which placed high at regional competitions conducted, were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts by the Department.
