Opening ceremony of the Shooting World Cup was held in Gabala.

With the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the organization of "Gabala" Shooting Club and Azerbaijan Shooting Federation the official opening of the World Cup on the olympic shooting to be held in Gabala region from June 7 to 14 took place.
First, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded in the ceremony held at the Heydar Aliyev Congress Center. At the event in which the representatives of the International Shooting Sport Federation and shooting federations from 45 countries took part, the head of the Gabala Region Executive Power Sabuhi Abdullayev, vice-president of “Gabala” Shooting Club Elvin Ismayılov, and the senior official of the International Shooting Sport Federation, Shooting World Cup's technical director Peter Anderhel made speeches.
This year 4 stage of the World Cup were held in Mexico, India, Cyprus, and Germany. The athletes who scored points and won places in the world ranking in those competitions, are entitled to participate in the next stage of the world cup competition taking place in Gabala. The final stage of this competition will be held in India in October this year. The World Cup is considered the most important tournament in the calendar plan of the International Shooting Sport Federation for 2017 after the World and European championships. The Gabala stage of the competition starts on June 8 at the Trap Shooting and Archery Complex in the Bum village. Shooters will fight for 10 sets of medals in the competition, which will last until June 14. The athletes will demonstrate their ability to hit targets shooting with pistols and rifles at the distances of 10, 25 and 50 meters.
