A chess championship was held in the region
A chess championship was held for boys and girls of Chess school devoted to "December 31—The World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day" organized by the Youth and Sports Department of Gabala region on 18 december, 2013 in order to implement some articles of "State program on improving chess in the Republic of Azerbaijan between 2009-2014", as well as to achieve widespread recognition of chess and provide its popularity by decree of the president Ilham Aliyev.
Faxri Soltanov - head of the Youth and Sports Department of the region and Director of the Chess school made a speech in the inaugural championship and informed that the goal of the competition is to provide increase and improvement of athletic skills of the participants and to determine the composition of the national group of the region on the age groups. Other speakers congratulated the participants on the occasion of "The World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day" wishing them success.
Teenagers and the youth under the age of 8-10-12-14 and 16 competed on the round system. In competition approximately 40 boys and girls tested their strength.
According to the results of the Championship, Karimov Ali Rustam, Humbatli Nurlan Humbat, Imamov Turgai Ravil, Ismili Arzu Nabir and Abdulkarimli Mehrab Arrahman among the boys, Rahmanova Safida, Abdurahmanli Samra Aflatun and Abdulkarimli Ilaha Arrahman among the girls won the first place according to different age groups. The winners of I, II and III places of different age groups were awarded with certificates of Youth and Sports Department.
