Within the framework of an educational tour-campaign conducted under the slogan “Learning our country” by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the schoolchildren from the Gabala region continue to become acquainted with the sights of the Guba and Gusar regions. On November 17, a group of schoolchildren from the Gabala region arrived in the Gusar region which is the northern gate of Azerbaijan. The upper-grade pupils of the comprehensive schools were welcomed at the Flag Square located at the entrance to the city of Gusar. Representatives of the Region Executive Power, Department of Culture and Tourism and the Education Department provided detailed information on the Gusar region to the pupils. It was noted that the measures taken within the framework of the state programs for the development of the regions have completely changed also the image of Gusar. In the region, construction and improvement works are continuously carried out, on the other side, significant progress has been achieved in the areas of education, health and culture. The key factor ensuring this progress is President Ilham Aliyev’s care to the Gusar region, its development and citizens’ well-being. The head of state, who paid official visits to Gusar several times, took part in the commissioning of various facilities and in the ground-breaking ceremony of new construction projects. During their acquaintance with the Shahdag Tourist Centre, the schoolchildren were informed that the tourist centre is distinguished from other similar complexes over the world by its uniqueness and versatility. The foundation of the complex, located in the Shahdag National Park, 32 kilometres from the centre of the Gusar region, was laid with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev in September 2009. The realisation of this project has opened up all possible opportunities for the development of skiing and other winter sports in Azerbaijan. Hotels built in the Shahdag Tourist Centre, which significantly contribute to the rapid development of the tourism sector in Azerbaijan, further increase the popularity of such resort. During the tour, the schoolchildren took advantage of the services provided in the complex free of charge. In the afternoon, the students visited the mausoleum of Sheikh Junayd in the village of Hazra, and then viewed photographs reflecting nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev’s rich heritage and activity in the Heydar Aliyev Center of the city.
