The meeting devoted to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Academician Hasan Aliyev was held.

The meeting, organized by the Institute of Geography named after Azerbaijan’s prominent geographer, academician Hasan Aliyev of ANAS, was held in the Gabala Archaeological Center on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of academician Hasan Aliyev. Opening the meeting with her introductory speech, the deputy head of the Executive Power of Gabala region Ataya Osmanova welcomed the attendees and spoke about the exclusive services carried out by the well-known soil scientist of his period, academician Hasan Aliyev towards the evolution of various fields of geography and soil sciences in Azerbaijan, as well as the present-day identity of some new scientific trends. Academician Ramiz Mammadov, director the Institute of Geography named after academician Hasan Aliyev of ANAS, made a broad presentation “on the scientific and public activities of the academician Hasan Aliyev”, stressing his irreplaceable roles in the protection of the nature, soil and water of Azerbaijan. In his speech, the scientist mentioned that the Institute of Geography developed the plan of events in order to ensure the 110th anniversary of the birth of the prominent scientist, skilled scientific organizer and well-known public figure Hasan Aliyev, who has made a valuable contribution to the treasury of Azerbaijani science, to be celebrated decently under the decree issued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and various events such as conferences, exhibitions, meetings, workshops, etc. are held annually by the Institute based on the plan. Identifying Hasan Aliyev as his academic adviser, head of department, and director of the relevant institute in his lecture, head of the department of “Ecogeography, PhD in agricultural sciences Anvar Aliyev further described H.Aliyev as supreme figure who has become the symbol for humanity, wisdom and justice, in general, Azerbaijani man. In addition, he stated that H.Aliyev, through his lifetime, proved to be highly esteemed, a man of worth, as well as a real Azerbaijani who genuinely loved his country, along with being a prominent researcher. Head of the department of “Geography of soil resources of Azerbaijan”, PhD in agrarian sciences Ismayil Guliyev gave a lecture entitled “Academician H.Aliyev as a prominent ecologist”, and spoke about the scientific-research works implemented by the soil scientist, his publication activity, and his exclusive role in the compilation of the soil map of Azerbaijan. Head of Agriculture Department of Gabala region Rahib Ahmadov spoke about his memories regarding H.Aliyev, and stressed the caring attitude of Hasan Aliyev to the others, the staff trained by him for our country, and the contributions made by him for the nature and science of Azerbaijan. The followers and former colleagues of Hasan Aliyev, who took part in the event, spoke about their memories of the great scientist. The deputy head of the Executive Power of Gabala region Ataya Osmanova informed the attendees about the history of Gabala, its present-day development and the international events held in the region, and expressed her sincere gratitude to the organizers for arranging such an outstanding event devoted to the great scientist Hasan Aliyev. A film devoted to Hasan Aliyev’s activity, which was prepared by the Institute of Geography, was shown throughout the event. In the end, the academician Ramiz Mammadov presented a set of books and atlas published by the Institute of Geography to the library of the Gabala Archaeological Center.
