Commemorative medals were handed out.
Today in Gabala city a meeting with veterans of War in Afghanistan was held at "Qavgaz Karvansaray hotel".
Opening the event with welcome speech, the Head of the Executive Power of Gabala Region, Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev, reported about performing by the veterans of War in Afghanistan of their military duty heroically and with honor in the face of motherland, emphasized their example for future generations, demonstrating their perseverance towards the creation and formation of the National Army of Azerbaijan.
Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev informed the participants that 9000 of our citizens were involved in the War in Afghanistan, 208 people of them were killed, 6 were missing, more than 400 people were maimed.
Speaker noted the special activity in the creation of the National Army of Afghanistan veterans as experienced fighters, selfless struggle for the liberation of the land from the Armenian invaders, giving the title of the National Hero of Azerbaijan to seven people for displayed heroism, 37 people of the order of "Azerbaijani flag", rewarding dozen of our soldiers with other orders and medals.
Mr. Sabuhi Abdullayev, who said that a glorious way of life of Afghanistan veterans plays a crucial role in formation of the current generation, informed that like the other veterans they are shown concern by the President of country, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Also, he said that today the awarding of 57 Afghanistan veterans with commemorative medals, is a vivid expression of care provided to them and responsive relationship.
Then Deputy Head of the Department of Civil Service of Gabala region on Mobilizing and Conscription, Huseyn Guliyev, made a report on the glorious path of veterans of War in Afghanistan and awarded veterans with commemorative medals.
In conclusion, a reception was held for the Veterans of War in Afghanistan.
