A commemorative football tournament dedicated to the memory of the martyrs of the “Patriotic War” was held among young people under the organization of Gabala Region Executive Power and the region’s youth and sports department. On September 26, 2022, the start was made at the stadium of Gabala Olympic Sports Complex, and 12 teams from the settlements and villages of the region participated in the commemorative tournament. Soltannukha village team won the tournament in the final game, which took place in the conditions of an interesting and intense sports competition. At the closing and awarding ceremony of the tournament held on October 12, 2022, the martyrs were commemorated with a minute of silence, and the Head of Gabala Region Youth and Sports Department, Fakhri Soltanov, spoke about the goals and tasks of the tournament. Speaking at the event, the Head of Gabala Region Executive Power, Sabuhi Abdullayev, made a speech and noted that the martyrs of the Patriotic War, who have written a heroic chronicle, which entered the history of the struggle for the freedom and territorial integrity of our lands as a page of heroism, that their memory will never be erased from memory, and that martyrdom is a holy peak, emphasized that organizing this type of competitions has a great role in organizing the free time of the youth efficiently, instilling a healthy lifestyle in them, increasing the role of physical education and sports in their upbringing in the spirit of patriotism, achieving the popularity of football, promoting football among the youth of the region, increasing the sports skills of the players, and wished success to the winning teams. At the end, memorable gifts, cups and diplomas were presented to the jury and the winning teams.
