A concert dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibayli was presented at the Gabala Festival.
As part of the successfully ongoing XIV Gabala International Music Festival, on July 27, a concert program dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the great Uzeyir Hajibayli was presented to music lovers at the Heydar Aliyev Congress Center. During the evening of chamber music, People's Artists Ulviyya Hajibayova (piano) and Gulnaz Ismayilova (soprano) delivered a captivating performance for the audience. Before the concert, People's Artist Ulviyya Hajibayova delivered a speech, providing a brief overview of Uzeyir Hajibayli's creative work and the pieces to be performed. The People's Artist stated: “I have always referred to Uzeyir Hajibeyli as ‘the genius of geniuses.” Our people also perceived and recognized him exactly that way. This is because Uzeyir Hajibeyli earned his status as a genius not only in one field but in many areas encompassing our culture. “He was not only a great composer but also a prominent playwright, publicist, musicologist, and a true patriot,” she added. The concert featured the aria of Gulchohra from Uzeyir Hajibayli's operetta "The Cloth Peddler", Nigar’s aria and the Overture from the opera Koroghlu, the Waltz from Afrasiyab Badalbayli’s ballet “Maiden Tower”, "Song" by Sultan Hajibayli, two preludes by Gara Garayev, the song "Flowers" by Arif Malikov, the aria of Sevil from Fikrat Amirov's opera "Sevil," the song " My Joy-Baku" by Tofig Guliyev, fragments from Niyazi Hajibayli's symphonic mugham "Rast," "Arzu," "Ave Maria" by Farhad Badalbayli, as well as works by other composers. The concert program was met with great interest by the audience.
