A presentation of the book “Consider This Life a Fairy Tale”, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Patriotic War Hero Colonel Lieutenant Afgan Abdurrahmanov, was held
On May 25, 2026, the presentation of Garib Huseyn’s book “Consider This Life a Fairy Tale”, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Patriotic War Hero, martyr Colonel Lieutenant Afgan Abdurrahmanov, took place at the Gabala Cultural Center. The event was attended by representatives of the region executive power, departments and organizations, family members of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, war veterans and participants, members of Afgan Abdurrahmanov’s family, as well as teaching staff from the schools where he studied and those bearing his name. The ceremony started with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, after which the memory of the martyrs was honored with a minute of silence. Speaking at the event, Garib Huseyn reflected on the process of creating his book “Consider This Life a Fairy Tale”, emphasizing its importance in preserving the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the Motherland. In her speech, Ataya Osmanova, Deputy Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power, noted that the memory of the martyrs is always honored at the highest level, and that the attention and care shown to their families constitute one of the main directions of state policy. She emphasized the importance of passing on the martyr’s life story to future generations, wished the author success, and prayed to the Almighty for mercy upon the martyrs and patience for their family members. The martyr’s comrades-in-arms and teachers who spoke at the event shared their memories of Afgan. On behalf of the martyr’s family, his son Alibay Abdurrahmanov addressed the audience, expressing gratitude to the organizers of the event and the author of the book for preserving the bright memory of his father. He noted that such works play an important role in promoting the heroic deeds of our heroes and also expressed appreciation to the country’s leadership for the attention and care shown to the families of martyrs. At the conclusion of the event, schoolchildren recited poems, and a video reflecting the life journey of Afgan Abdurrahmanov was screened.
