On July 31, 2026, an event dedicated to August 1 — the Day of the Azerbaijani Alphabet and Azerbaijani Language — was held on the joint initiative of the Gabala Region Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) and the district education sector. The event started with the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a one-minute silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our lands. Opening the event with a welcoming speech, Chairperson of the Gabala Region Organization of the NAP Abil Aghasafov noted that as a result of the language policy defined by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the position of the Azerbaijani language as the state language had been strengthened, and that this policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. The speakers emphasised that the Azerbaijani language is one of the main pillars of our national and spiritual values, historical memory and national identity, noting the importance of teaching the native language, preserving it, using it correctly, and fostering love for it among the younger generation. At the event, students recited poems dedicated to the native language, and a video dedicated to August 1 — the Day of the Azerbaijani Alphabet and Azerbaijani Language — was also shown. At the end, gifts were presented to a group of students who achieved high results in the 2026 university entrance examinations, after which the participants took commemorative photos.
