As part of the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty”, a regional conference was held in Gabala on the topic “Heydar Aliyev and the Return to National and Spiritual Values”, dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
On May 12, as part of the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty”, a regional conference titled “Heydar Aliyev and the Return to National and Spiritual Values” was held with the organizational support of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with the assistance of the Gabala Region Executive Power. The event was dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The conference was attended by representatives of the relevant state bodies, as well as more than 180 religious figures working in the Gabala, Oghuz, and Sheki regions. At the beginning of the conference, the participants visited the monument to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, located in the city center, and laid flowers in his honor. The conference, held at the Heydar Aliyev Congress Center, began with the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power, Sabuhi Abdullayev, opened the conference with a welcoming speech, greeted the participants, and, on behalf of the region community, expressed gratitude to the organizers of the event. He noted that the first Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, developed under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, laid the foundation for large-scale reforms in the country. He also emphasized that thanks to the wise policy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country have been restored. In his speech, he told about the work carried out in Gabala to preserve national and spiritual values, as well as the principles of tolerance and multiculturalism. Chairperson of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, Ramin Mammadov, noted in his speech that in the modern era, at the current historical stage of rapid globalization, it is becoming increasingly difficult to define the boundaries of national and spiritual values. While many nations face the difficult choice of striking a delicate balance between keeping pace with globalization and preserving their national and spiritual values, Azerbaijan has chosen to remain faithful to its own values. Milli Majlis Deputy Eldar Ibrahimov, highlighting the significance of the conference, stated that alongside the process of state-building, National Leader Heydar Aliyev also carried out cultural and spiritual development as well as the restoration of national-historical memory. Today, the main goal of the reforms carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, based on national and spiritual values, is to build a strong, competitive state that meets modern global challenges and ensures the well-being of its citizens. The regional conference continued its work in the format of panel sessions, and in his closing remarks, Chairperson of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, Ramin Mammadov, emphasized that global challenges and complex processes occurring in the world require increased attention to the religious and ideological sphere, as well as strengthening the natural harmony between state institutions, civil society organizations, and the religious community. The Chairperson of the Committee emphasized that the series of regional conferences, where important issues are discussed and valuable experiences are shared, is of great significance from this perspective.
