Development of the agricultural sector in Gabala in focus
On September 16, 2026, Ilgar Suleymanov, a responsible official of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Yalchin Jamalov, Chairperson of the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency, Arif Allahverdiyev, Deputy Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power, as well as representatives of the Gabala State Agrarian Development Centre and the Gabala Water Reclamation Systems Operation Department visited agricultural enterprises operating in the region in crop production, livestock farming, fish farming and the production of food wheat, in line with the measures envisaged under the “State Programme for the Development of Agricultural, Fishery and Aquaculture Production and Processing Sectors in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030”, and familiarised themselves with the initiatives of entrepreneurs and the work being carried out. Particular attention was also paid to preparatory work in the field of horticulture and processing being carried out by Aspi Aqro LLC for establishing a vineyard on an additional area of 55 hectares, and by AZROSE LLC for establishing flower plantations on an open-field area of 50 hectares, the introduction by Aqrokompleks Qəbələ LLC of a modern sprinkler irrigation system on 100 hectares of alfalfa and corn fields, as well as the work being carried out by Novex Aqro LLC to modernise Valley Irrigation sprinkler systems in potato fields. In the livestock farming sector, the plans of Aqrokompleks Qəbələ LLC to purchase an additional 300 head of cattle to increase productivity and renew the herd were reviewed. In the fish farming sector, the phased completion during 2026–2030 of the project of AFF-in Qəbələ Qızıl Balıqartırma Zavodu LLC to increase fish production from 36 to 80 tonnes was reviewed. In the wheat production sector, projects aimed at increasing the yield of food wheat on a 54-hectare area in cooperation with farmer Shahin Mustafayev were reviewed, as were the activities carried out by entrepreneur Sabuhi Nabiyev at the Tofiqoğlu beekeeping farm. During meetings with entrepreneurs, their activities, future plans and the issues they face were discussed, and the importance of making effective use of the opportunities provided by the state, including subsidies, preferential financing and other support mechanisms, was emphasised. As part of the continuation of the event, a meeting was held at the administrative building of the Region Executive Power with the participation of agricultural enterprises and processing facilities engaged in the production and processing of agricultural products, local representatives of relevant government agencies and members of the Headquarters. Information was provided on other measures being implemented within the framework of the State Programme.
