Easter celebration in the Nij village
On May 5, 2024, Easter was celebrated in the Albanian-Udi "Chotari" church in the Nij village of Gabala Region. The festive ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Work with Religious Organizations Sayavush Heydarov, Head of the Gabala Region Executive Authority Sabuhi Abdullayev, representatives of religious denominations functioning in Azerbaijan, village residents and guests. In his speech, the Deputy Chairperson of the SCWRO noted that tolerance is a way of life for Azerbaijan, representatives of all religious denominations in our country live as a family. The Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power Sabuhi Abdullayev in his speech noted that promotion of the rich traditions of tolerance and multicultural values inherent in our people is one of the priorities for the state policy, noted that representatives of various religions in our country live in peace, tranquility and good-neighborly relations. Other speakers told about the nature of Easter celebrations, the conditions created for religious ceremonies, and expressed gratitude to the country's leadership for the attention and care provided to the small-numbered peoples. At the end of the event, the candles were lit, prayers were read, and a festive concert was held to celebrate the holiday.
