On March 5, Physical Education and Sports Day, a ceremonial sports event was held within the framework of the project “Gabala - Capital of Sports 2025”
On March 5, 2025, as part of the "Gabala - Sports Capital 2025" project, a ceremonial sports event was held in Gabala in connection with Physical Education and Sports Day. First, the participants of the event visited the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, laid flowers in front of the monument, and at the Gabala Cultural Center, a documentary film titled "The Moment of Return" was screened. The film was prepared to mark the 30th anniversary of the historic meeting between National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Azerbaijani sports community. Then a sports procession was organized with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, sports federations, Olympic and Paralympic champions and medalists, sports ambassadors, volunteers, officials of the National Anti-Doping Agency, students of the Azerbaijan Sports Academy and representatives of the regional community. The official part of the event began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In his speech at the event, the head of the Gabala District Executive Power, Sabuhi Abdullayev, noted that the youth strategy initiated by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev is being successfully continued by the President of the Republic Ilham Aliyev, and Gabala is now hosting international events - summits, meetings, plenums and forums with the participation of heads of state, international sports competitions. He expressed his gratitude to the relevant organizations for including Gabala in such a magnificent project and wished success in the implementation of the project in our district. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, in his speech, emphasized that youth policy and the care for youth and sports have always been a priority for the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the residents of the district, especially the athletes, on Gabala's selection as the Sports Capital. Finally, the concert program, featuring a variety of interesting musical pieces, was met with great enthusiasm by the participants.
