The Gabala region Museum of History and Local Lore hosted an event entitled “Young Minds”.
On July 16, 2026, an event entitled “Young Minds” was organized by the Gabala region Museum of History and Local studies in cooperation with the Gabala Region Children and Youth Sports and Chess School on the occasion of International Chess Day celebrated on July 20. Speaking at the event, the participants highlighted the exceptional role of chess in developing intellectual skills, human thinking, logical reasoning and memory. They noted that interest in chess remains high in Azerbaijan and emphasized the special attention and support provided by the state for the development of this field. Subsequently, an excursion to the open-air stone sculpture exhibition was organized for the participants, during which they were provided with detailed information about Gabala’s ancient history, culture and archaeological findings. A chess competition was also held among schoolchildren. At the end of the event, chess players were presented with certificates of honour and commemorative gifts.
