On August 12, 2026, the reporting conference of the Gabala Region Council of Elders was held. The conference participants paid respect to the national leader Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers at his monument. Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Head of the Region Executive Power Sabuhi Abdullayev told about the role of elders in the socio-political life of our country, the care of the state for representatives of the older generation, stressed that elders have always been crucial to educate the healthy youth in keeping with allegiancy to the state and the people, protecting them from harmful influences. Professor Vahid Novruzov, the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Elders of the Republic, spoke about the role of elders and intellectuals in the development of our state, the foundation of which was laid by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, successfully continued by the President Ilham Aliyev, and noted the satisfactory annual performance of the Gabala Region Council of Elders. The Chairperson of the Region Council of Elders, Mehman Ismayilov, delivered the annual report at the event. He provided detailed information on the activities carried out by the Council during the reporting period and the results achieved, emphasizing the active role of elders in the social, political, cultural and public life of the region, as well as highlighting the steps taken to foster a spirit of patriotism among young people and to implement the priority tasks on the agenda. The speakers highlighted the improvement and development works being carried out in the country and the global projects being implemented, emphasizing the active participation of the region’s elders in public life. They also noted that young people regard older men and women as role models and that there is mutual respect and continuity between older people and the younger generation in the country.
