Winners of the 12th International "Young Rescuer" Competition Awarded in Qabala
On 4 July, an award ceremony was held in Gabala city to honour the winners of the 12th International “Young Rescuer” Competition and the 13th National “Young Rescuer and Firefighter” Championship, organised by the Ministry of Emergency Situations with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Gabala Region Executive Power.
Among those attending the ceremony were Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports; Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education; Sabuhi Abdullayev, Head of the Gabala Region Executive Power; the children and family members of the martyrs of the Patriotic war; and representatives of the public.
This year's competitions brought together teams from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and Russia as participants, while Tajikistan took part as an observer.
The competitions were organised to enhance the preparedness of adolescents and young people for emergency situations, promote a healthy lifestyle among schoolchildren, foster a sense of personal and public responsibility for safety and national patriotism, increase interest in the rescue profession, and establish friendship and cooperation among young rescuers from different countries.
The official part of the ceremony commenced with the performance of the National Anthem, followed by the presentation of a video produced by the Ministry of Emergency Situations highlighting the competitions.
The ceremony continued with a cultural performance by schoolchildren celebrating patriotism and friendship among nations. The winners were presented with trophies, diplomas, certificates of honour, and valuable gifts, while the remaining participants received certificates of honour and commemorative gifts.
It should be noted that the teams competed in the stages entitled “Obstacle course”, “Combined fire relay”, “Search and rescue operations”, “Team presentation” and “Wall newspaper”.
In the fiercely contested international competition, Azerbaijan took first place, while Uzbekistan and Belarus finished in second and third places, respectively. In the National Championship, first place was awarded to the team of Complete Secondary School No. 6 named after N. Behdiyev in the city of Ismayilli, second place to the team of Nehram Settlement Complete Secondary School No. 3 of Babak District, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and third place to the team of Yukhari Zeykhur Village Complete Secondary School in Gusar District.
